Frail Or Not?

Sad but true, there are counterfeit copies of Jars of Clay's demo disc Frail.  Hopefully this will help you be sure you've got (or get) the real deal.
Frail was the band's demo project, created while the band members were students at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. Only 1,500 copies of this "just for fun" album were made, and they have long since sold out. Seven of the songs from Frail were re-recorded for the band's debut record on Essential Records, while Fade to Grey and Frail were re-recorded for their sophomore album, Much Afraid.  Direct reference to the existence of the Frail CD was made on the 1996 release Jars Of Clay Interactive - The Complete Jars Of Clay Experience; quote: "audio selections from Frail, the critically-acclaimed demo project".

Facts confirmed by Jars of Clay lead singer, Dan Haseltine:
  • there were two pressings by Disc Makers
  • only 1500 units were created
  • the frauds have a black ring
Authentic CD Attributes:
  • factory-pressed disc (ie. CD data side is silver)
  • disc inner-ring CD matrix: DIDX 021227 (visible on front and back)
  • clear, crisp text
  • half-tone (black and white) images
